More Stretch Goals Unlocked!

Exciting news to share! 🎉

Stretch goals unlocked!

We're far too excited about unlocking the next couple stretch goals, and we know you are too. So, as we are quickly ramping up in our final countdown, we couldn't resist...we've gone ahead and unlocked them a little bit early. 🫣 😁

That's right, every game box will now include the first three stretch goals:

• Five additional artifacts (dig cards)
• Six unique character boards (player mats)
• Six canvas bags for dig camp pieces

Your support thus far has been tremendous, and we are so excited to embark on this journey together. 🙏

The campaign is quickly coming to a close, and before long you'll be discovering the secrets in the sand for yourselves...but, for now, if you have any questions just let us know!

Stretch Goal #1 Unlocked!

Dear fellow archaeologists,

As the day, the week, and the campaign all near their end, it's time for an update!

Stretch Goal Announcement

Great news! With your support, we’ve unlocked the first stretch goal: five bonus artifacts. These dig cards will be included in every game, so it's up to you to find them in the sands.

Here's a closer look at the new dig cards in your boxes:

•  Basalt Stele: a rare relief carving of basalt, depicting the story of an ancient king on an epic lion hunt
•  Gilded Necklace: a remnant of the ancient elite, in classic Mesopotamian style of gold and lapis lazuli
•  Eye Idol: carved in stone, idols such as this were left in temples as offerings to the deities
•  Headdress: an ornate headdress of gold leaf, the weight and craftsmanship of which was surely fit for a queen
•  Royal Harp: a rare box lyre built of gold, silver and wood, which was likely played in a royal court

Although there are only a couple more days to go, there's still a chance of hitting our next stretch goal: player mats. These cardboard sheets are unique for each character, and give you a clean place to store your dig cards and travel cards during your expeditions:

If we don't hit the stretch goal, there still may be an opportunity to snag these...we'll keep you posted!

Only 60 hours to go…

Our pre-sale campaign is soon drawing to a close, with only a couple more days to go. So, if you have friends or family who you think would have fun joining our expedition, please bring them along!

And remember — now is the time to get in! Once the campaign closes on Friday, it will be too late to place new orders until later in the summer. But you can always pledge now (even for $1) and upgrade or cancel your order later.

Funding achieved! 🎉 And stretch goal revealed...

Good morning, and good news....

We've hit our funding goal! 🎉 

We're so happy that we have so many fellow adventurers along for the expedition, and we're so excited to embark on this journey together. Thank you for your interest and your support!

We are pleased to say that with our goal now achieved, everything is on track and on schedule. Get ready for your copies of Secrets in the Sand to land this summer.

Stretch goal revealed 🔎

With the funding goal behind us, it's time to turn our sights to what's next...the first stretch goal! This will be unlocked at the $17,500 mark, which isn't too far away...

This stretch goal includes 5 additional artifacts in the form of dig cards. Pictured below, they include: a basalt-carved War Stele that documents a historic battle, a Gilded Necklace made of gold and brilliant lapis lazuli, a mesmerizing Royal Harp from an ancient king's court, a delicate Headdress made of gold leaf, and a mysterious Eye Idol from a long lost temple.

We encourage you to spread the word across the sands, and share our campaign with your friends and family! The more archaeologists the merrier, and together we can unlock more exciting stretch goals ahead.

Progress Update & Travel Card Deep-Dive

Progress Update

We're pleased to say we are now over 90% of the way towards our campaign goal, with still more than two weeks remaining.

At this point, we have finalized the artwork and game specs, and the production run is being prepared. What does this mean? We are on track to deliver your first edition copies of Secrets in the Sand this summer!

Travel Cards

For those who are curious about the gameplay, let's take a look at one of the game's key elements: travel cards.

As you and your fellow archaeologists move across the board to deploy new dig camps, there are times when specific travel cards must be used. You may have to cross a river (raft!), a rocky outcrop (dynamite!) or a patch of jungle (machete!). Or, well, perhaps you want to use a valuable airship to cross any terrain imaginable.

One thing is known - travel cards are in short supply yet high demand. The smart archaeologist will use them wisely throughout the game, trying to travel routes that will get them closer to the lost tomb.

Going Strong + Rulebook Reveal!

Hey folks,

Happy Wednesday! We hope your expeditions are gearing up.

Project Update

We are still within our campaign's first week, yet we are already 75% funded. A huge thank you to everybody who already staked their place on this journey...this is only the beginning!

For those who aren't yet following us on Instagram, come join the adventure as we share regular glimpses into the game and its incredible artwork. 

Rulebook Reveal

We'll be posting regular updates throughout the campaign. To begin, we want to share the official rulebook (or field guide, as we call it) for Secrets in the Sand.

Languages

We've been fortunate to have interest from around the world, and a few prospective archaeologists have already inquired about languages.

For now, the first edition of the game will only be available in English. However, we do have plans to publish the rulebook as a PDF in other versions in the near future (likely starting with French, German, Italian and Spanish). Please drop us a line if you are interested in more languages and we'll work on making it happen!
